During the holidays my 10 year old daughter and I have been playing with sugar and pipe cleaners. This is what she has made. She calls him 'Tweety'.

Here is a close-up of the bootees I made for the naming ceremony cake shown below. Although I have been making cakes for 20 years this is the first time I have made bootees, and how sweet they are too.

Joel and Sue came to see me with a sketch of the cake they wanted to celebrate Sarah's naming day. There were 5 separate cube cakes representing building blocks, with a letter on each and booties, footprints, a teddy and hearts on wires. It was a joy to put their design into practice. The weather was beautiful on Sunday so I hope they had a wonderful day.

20110412-Birthday Cake for Hiker.JPG

This was an 80th Birthday Cake for a gentleman who enjoys hiking and cycling. There are cyclists all round the side in silhouette, and a hiker pausing to look at the sunset.

The lady who ordered the cake for her husband sent this:

"Thank you very much for the cake. It looked great, tasted better and was one of the stars of the evening for John. Great stuff. Thank you. Pat"

Hannah and I made this cake to raffle for her school Easter Teas fund raiser. It is a 10" cake with chocolate roses, tiny chocolate eggs and milk and white chocolate shards on top and on the drum. The side was wrapped with a chocolate transfer, the first time I had used one of these.

I have spent the day making lemon/cream sugar tulips for a wedding cake next week. They have been very time consuming but I am pleased with the result.
