I will be at Crondon Park in Stock, Essex, tomorrow, with a display of my cakes and some tasting samples if you are looking for a cakemaker for your wedding. The venue will be set up as for a wedding if you are still at the early stages of wedding planning and are looking for a venue, and there will be other of Crondon Park's preferred suppliers displaying what they can do.

This is a new dummy cake I have put together as one of my cakes on display. Black and white poppies with diamante centres for a stylish, modern look. I will still have my helter-skelter, and lace and pearl cakes to see as well.

I made this cake for a wedding at Stock Brook Manor in the summer. I don't know why I haven't put up the picture before now. The cascade of hand made purple sugar calla lilies led down to a cute sugar bride and groom, mini replicas dressed in what the bride and groom were wearing.

The bride and groom were thrilled and sent me a lovely thank you letter:

"Thank you so much for the beautiful, delicious cake you made for our wedding on the 18th August. The cake looked absolutely amazing and we really loved the bride and groom figures you so delicately moulded from our pictures and the beautiful cascade of calla lilies. All our guests were so impressed with the look of the cake and even more so when they got to eat it. Thank you so much for all the time you took making the cake so perfect. "

This was a small version of my white chocolate helterskelter cake made for a wedding yesterday. It was lovely, and quite big enough for 60 to 70 guests. It was sprayed all over with an edible pearl glaze, which gave it the irridescent sheen you can just make out in the photographs. It was for a reception at home in Billericay, Essex.

Stella's husband organised this surprise birthday cake for her 50th birthday, celebrated at a party held at Burstead Golf Club in November. The cake was a sponge cake, shaped into a black Chanel quilted handbag, with 30 matching cupcakes with red icing and black purse style quilted bags on top.

I also do a white handbag the same which can be seen in the birthday section of my website.

Amber and William got married on New Year's Eve at Crondon Park. They had a six tier white chocolate wrap cake with white chocolate fans and roses, the roses with gold glitter on the edges. It was a cake with a real wow factor!

And this is the third cake I made for Christmas week. This was a surprise from the bride to the groom. She requested chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting. I'd never made peanut butter frosting before, but it was delicious and is now on my repertoire.

Jenna agreed: "Hi Melanie, I just wanted to say a big thank you for our cakes yesterday! They looked incredible and were delicious. We can't thank you enough. xz "

This is the second of the Christmas week wedding cakes, with white chocolate wraps, fans and roses, with white sparkle on the edge of the roses to go with the theme of the wedding which was all white frosty sparkle, at Crabbs Barn in Kelvedon, Essex.

Jenna send me a text the next day "Hi Melanie, I just wanted to say a big thank you for our cakes yesterday! They looked incredible and were delicious. We can't thank you enough. xz "

20140109-snowball_cake_1.jpg

I was very busy with wedding cakes during the week before Christmas. Christmas themes tend to be red and gold, or white and frosty. Rachel went for a winter wonderland theme. The church was stunning, with living trees, hung with pompoms of white flowers. The reception venue, Gaynes Park near Epping, Essex, had a 'ski' theme. This is what the bride thought of the cake:

"We would like to say an enormous thank you for making such a beautiful wedding cake for us. The guests loved the way it complemented our 'ski' theme and the children really enjoyed eating the 'snowballs'. There were only crumbs left at the end of the reception which speaks volumes about how tasty the cake was. Thank you again, Rachel and Jonny Dixon."
