20141222-christmas_cake.jpg

This is one of the Christmas Cakes I have made this year. It is a gift, not a commission, as I don't take orders for Christmas Cakes. I just make a few, for charity, or gifts, which means I can please myself with the design. I found one something like this on Pinterest and based my design on that.

This very simple little cake for a small wedding was delightful. Just 18 cupcakes with hand modelled sugar roses and a white iced top tier with ribbon. The bride supplied the toppers.

Diamond Wedding Anniversaries, 60 years of marriage, what a celebration! Harriet and Ted celebrated at Stock Brook Manor with a lemon sponge cake, with royal iced roses and cameos on the side and a spray of sugar roses, hydrangea and lily of the valley with eucalyptus leaves. I added a few diamantes to underline the occasion.

The chocolate wrap wedding cake with roses and fans is my best selling wedding cake. They look so spectacular at a wedding venue, and smell so scrummy too. This was a 3 colour purple rose version with white chocolate fans and wraps. This was for a wedding reception in Chelmsford in September.

This 4-tier cake had 'aged' sugar lace, moulded and piped pearls and a sugar 'garden' rose. For a wedding at Crondon Park in the Summer.

This was a rather classic wedding cake with clean, elegant lines and colour scheme, simple roses, but with the twist of a rather cute sugar bride and groom at the base. I particularly liked this couple's choice of cake.

I love it when a bride whose wedding cake I made comes back a few years later for a Christening Cake. It is an affirmation that they loved my work, and want a cake to be part of their next important celebration. The couple have become a family. Sometimes, if they had a fruit cake for the wedding the top tier is used for the Christening, but as fruit cake is less usual these days, it is more likely that they want a sponge cake. A girl with a flower name is a gift for a designer,

I make a lot of chocolate wrap cakes but occasionally a bride wants one that is pure white rather than the cream of white chocolate. This one has 40 white sugar roses among the fans and wraps, and is sprayed with a pearl lustre to give it a subtle shine. It was for a wedding at Hylands House, an exquisite Georgian House run by the local Chelmsford council in lovely Parklands. A beautiful place to get married.

This was a modern interpretation of the bottom tier of this couple's wedding cake of 60 years ago. It is fruit cake with marzipan and a smooth coating of royal icing, then decorated with basket trellis work, and piped roses and leaves. A simple inscription with their names completed this project
