This bride wanted a big fat gypsy wedding type wedding cake. This was for a reception at the Riverside Inn in Chelmsford last Saturday. So there was a castle with sparkly silver roofs, a pair of sugar swans, and carriage way with silver cobbles, a 'glass' carriage and four horses, silver hearts and diamante round the cake drum. I loved putting all the elements together.

Back in May I entered a decorated cup cake in the Chelmsford Sugarcraft Guild's annual competition. I made a cupcake and balanced a sugar owl covered in brass and bronze and copper and gold coloured cogs and screws on top. Then I made an egg for the owl to live in, again from sugar to look like it was made up of riveted brass plates.

After the competition I have displayed it in the shop window, sitting on top of a wedding cake. Probably not everyone's idea of a wedding cake topper but he does look very handsome.
