| 31st January, 2012 Navy and White 2-tier Wedding Cake |
www.ferriscakes.co.uk This was a last minute wedding cake I made for the end of January. It is 2-tiers, in vanilla sponge, and carrot cake. The roses and blossoms are made of sugarpaste and the tendrils piped in royal icing. As it was just two tiers the bride and groom also hired a pedestal stand to give it some height. It was for a wedding at Five Lakes in Essex. |
| 27th January, 2012 Single Tier Chocoholic Wedding Cake |
www.ferriscakes.co.uk You can't get much more chocolately than chocolate cake, chocolate ganache filling and coating, chocolate cigarillos round the sides, chocolates on top and even two chocolate hearts with the name of the bride and groom on. Oh, and did I mention chocolates on the cake board. |
| 25th January, 2012 Chocolate Birthday Cake for Dessert |
www.ferriscakes.co.uk This was a large chocolate orange birthday cake, to serve as dessert. 12 inches square with alternate white, milk and plain chocolate cigarillos, milk and white chocolate ruffles, strawberries dipped in milk chocolate, and other fresh fruits nestling among the ruffles. All for Mark's 50th birthday. |
| 19th January, 2012 Purple and Pink Wedding Cake |
www.ferriscakes.co.uk This was a wedding cake I did for a bride at Gaynes Park in October. It has a tier each of pink and purple hearts, pink and purple stripes and pink and purple spots. The bride was very pleased, she e-mailed me to say: "Thank you so much for the beautiful cake , it tasted lovely and everyone commented on how pretty it was." |
| 17th January, 2012 Rabbit Plaque |
We moved house back in October and while we were clearing out I found this plaque that I had made while doing my City and Guilds Sugarcraft Course in 1995. It was inspired by a 1st birthday card that I had received (over 50 years ago) with the rabbits, mice etc, but they were indoors, so I did a Spring country background based on a 'Diary of an Edwardian Country Lady' calendar. Unfortunately, the edge had suffered from the damp causing a squirrel to dissolve, but I took a picture before throwing it away, so that I have a record of a very time-consuming labour of love. www.ferriscakes.co.uk |
